The Sticks & Stones: A Fresh Foundation

With Christmas around the corner, Inglewood emcee Shawn Chrystopher is back with a present, his new and highly anticipated project, You, And Only You. The 13 track album includes the track  "Catch Me If You Can" and "The Hangover" with productions done by Shawn Chrystopher.  The album is available for free for digital download but it also can be purchased in physical form and it also available in a special fan package with t-shirts and a booklet if you are trying to support the guy. As part of the new generation of West Coast rappers, it seems like the BEST coast is in good hands. Check for the link after the album cover art...

DREW's Note:  I been a fan of Shawn Chryzee since I heard his 2009 project, A City With No Seasons, which I definitely consider one of the best Hip-Hop projects to come out of that year. I recommend people to check this dude out. He has a fresh and intelligent approach to his music and it definitely shows. Check this albums out and check out his past project while you at it.

J. Cole
drops another track with singer Kevin Cossum while we wait for that album. The track is a very chilled out track about trying to live an un-bothered life. Not sure if the track will be part of Cole's upcoming album but if you haven't downloaded Friday Night Lights, you can download it HERE.

DREW's Note: Another heater from J. Cole but no word on the release of the album. But still, Friday Night Lights still get heavy rotation on my iTunes. If you don't got it, get it NOW!

New York actor and well-known Hip-Hop fanatic, Michael Rappaport, directed one of the most highly anticipated Hip-Hop documentaries, Beats, Rhymes & Fights: The History of A Tribe Called Quest. After two years in the making, the documentary follows Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi also known as the critically acclaimed Hip-Hop group A Tribe Called Quest. Rappaport follows the group during their reunion tour and uncovers the truth behind the group's beginnings in Queens and their dramatic fights after the disbandment of ATCQ. The film also features special guest appearances from De La Soul, Nas, Kanye West, Mos Def, and many more people who were influenced and inspired by ATCQ and their music. There is no actually release date yet but keep your eyes and ears out because it will be sooner than later.

DREW's Note: FINALLY! A documentary on ATCQ, easily one of my favorite Hip-Hop groups...PERIOD! When I saw this trailer, I was so juiced and when I read that Michael Rappaport is directing it, I knew that this story was in good hands. Can't Wait! CHECK THE RHYME, Y'ALL!

As everyone is out getting their "Dark Twisted Fantasy" on, KanYe West and Jay-Z are hard at work for their collaboration album, Watch The Throne. Presumably, this Q-Tip produced track is off that album but nothing is official yet. The track also features La Roux singer, Elly Jackson. The release of the album is unknown at the moment but hopefully it's soon.

DREW's Note: Okay, first off, if you haven't cop'd My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, leave now and go get it! Okay, that out the way, this track is sick, you can definitely hear that Q-Tip definitely work on the track with the Boom-Bap sound. Can't wait for this historic album to drop.

Coming out of  Pittsburg, Mac Miller bring visuals for "Knock, Knock" off his popular K.I.D.S. mixtape. The video is a clash between the 50s and the present, a visual representation of the song that uses a 50s sample. While the track was done by ID Labs, the video was directed by Ian Wolfson of Rex Arrow Films. If you haven't got Mac Miller's mixtape yet, you can download it at datpiff.com.

DREW's Note: I guess Wiz Khalifa isn't the only one coming out of Pittsburg and Rostrum Records. I have only heard of Mac Miller this year and all I can say is "don't judge a book by it's cover". I recommend people to check out his mixtape...ASAP.

Though the media has been talking about the controversial "sex" album cover, KanYe West also revealed that there are four other album covers. Some of the covers have been used as the cover art for the album's singles like "Runaway" and "Power". The five cover arts was done by Greg Kondo. Even though that there will be five different covers, all of the covers will be part of the purchase of the LP as inserts. So get yourself to a store and purchase My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The album is also available thought iTunes. The other covers are after the jump...

DREW's Note: Yeee! My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is finally here! I got this album on HEAVY HEAVY ROTATION. The album is a definite purchase for music fans. I already got my copy. Did you?

Mansion On The Moon is a trio of musicians who decided to come together to craft a unique sound for people's ears. MOTM consist of Lane Shaw and Ben Hazelgrove of Pnuma Trio and singer/songwriter Ted Wendler. The trio has been together for more than a year and since then they have collaborated with N*E*R*D, Diplo, DJ Benzi, and many more. Hosted by DJ Benzi and Diplo, "Paradise Falls" is a collection of tracks that will introduce the masses to the unique sounds of MOTM. Currently, MOTM is working hard on their debut album, which will drop in 2011 with a tour.

DREW's Note: This is a dope group and the music they are making is amazing. The sounds they are bringing in is a mix of many different genres of music from Electronica to Hip Hop to R&B to Dance. It's hard to put a specific type of genre on MOTM but it's not hard to realize that it's just good music.

Since it's announcement and the recent controversies, the world waits for Michael Jackson's posthumous album Michael. Last week, michaeljackson.com gave a small taste of the album with the streaming of "Breaking news". This week, they give us more earcandy with the Akon featured track "Hold My Hand", a track that vaguely sounds similar to a old Hootie & the Blowfish track. Just like "Breaking News", "Hold My Hand" is only available for stream through michaeljackson.comMichael is set to drop on Decemeber 14th.

DREW's Note: Okay...now the vocals on this track definitely sounds more like MJ. The song is definitely a Konvict production but there's nothing wrong with that except it sounds more Akon than Michael. Still...I can't wait to get my hands on the album.

J. Cole drops his highly anticipated mixtape Friday Night Lights for the masses and the masses ate it up. The mixtape had literally shut down the internet with the overload of downloads and searches for it. Soon after the drop of the mixtape, J. Cole had an interview with UK's DJ Semtex, where he discusses the mixtape and the internet shutting down. The 20 track mixtape features original musc from J. Cole and KanYe's "Looking For Trouble", where he was one of the featured artist, as the bonus track. J. Cole's debut album still doesn't have a set release date but it will drop sooner than later.

DREW's Note: Wow! This is the first time I heard about a mixtape shutting down the internet. The mixtape is a definite download for everyone. J. Cole treated this mixtape as an album release with the large amount of original productions on it. If this is a mixtape, I definitely can't wait for the album.
